What an incredible achievement. This… taken from the Facebook page…

At 16:05 on Friday 3rd June 2016, Sam (7) and his dad Paul Whitehead of Emsworth in Hampshire, crossed the finish line, completing an astounding 322km in only 5 days.

For those who have not been following Sam’s journey, here’s his story:

Sam heard about profoundly deaf, 3 year old, South African, Widja Deysel in 2015. Widja is in desperate need of Cochlear Implants to allow her hear. Sam decided he had to help, so in September 2015 at the age of just 6 he took part in a 50km Audax event completing the ride in 4hrs 30min. Sam was the youngest cyclest to date to attempt this ride and managed to raise £500.

Alas not enough was raised for Widja to have both implants done. So earlier this year Sam decided he wanted to do something more, as his ambition is to hopefully one day meet Widja and for her to be able to hear him.

Therefore to mark his 7th birthday he decided to cycle to Bath and back, a distance of about 300km.
Due to safety reasons we wouldn’t allow him to do such a distance on his own bike, which is where the tandem came in.

Today that challenge was met. A distance of 322km covered and so far about £650 raised.

This was a massive undertaking for such a young boy. Not only did he achieve it but he did so with an unfaltering smile and even bigger heart.

Please help Sam achieve his goal of helping Widja to hear.
Sam’s done all the hard work, you get to do the fun bit of just parting with some cash.

What an achievement… Sam (and Paul) you should be proud of yourselves.
